HUBLOT LOVES CRICKET
Hublot and its retail partner – Colombo Jewellery Stores hosted a meet and greet with Rohit Sharma, Captain of Mumbai Indians IPL team and Hublot’s Friend of the Brand, at their store located at Alfred House, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Being a part of the international cricket fraternity, Rohit Sharma met Hublotistas, privileged guests and few legendary Sri Lankan Cricket Players during his visit to the boutique. To mark this first of a kind visit, Rohit Sharma presented a Hublot Big Bang Wall Clock to Mr Akram Cassim, CEO Colombo Jewellery Stores.
Rohit Sharma received a very warm welcome by all the Sri Lankan Cricketers as well as Hublotistas who enjoyed talking to the professional player as well as took pictures with the star.
Notable amongst the guests were Mahela Jayawardhane – The Mumbai Indians Team Coach in IPL, and Aravinda De Silva – legendary Sri Lankan opener like Rohit himself, who was instrumental in helping Sri Lanka win the ICC World cup of Cricket in 1996 against Australia
Rohit Sharma is a Hublot Friend since 2016. He shares the same values as the Swiss Luxury Watch Manufacture, excellence, precision, passion and generosity. Hublot also sees a lot in common with Rohit Sharma as he combines the traditional batting technique in cricket with entertainment. Ranked amongst the top 10 batsman in the world in the limited overs Cricket and having the world record of scoring maximum runs in the 50 over format of the game, Hublot is proud to be associated with this explosive Cricketer.
Cricket, one of the largest sporting phenomena in the world, in terms of aficionados and audience, can be said to be the most popular game in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the West Indies, as well as England and Australia. As with football, Hublot has once again proven itself to be always First, Unique, and Different, as the 1st luxury brand to invest in this sport.
Two big events were organized on Nov.24, 2014 in India and Australia, to seal the presence of the Swiss watchmaking brand in this new field. To mark the occasion, a watch dedicated to cricket devotees was presented.
Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, commented “Hublot has once again proven itself as the first, unique, and different luxury brand to enter cricket. This incredible sport will round off our worldwide marketing presence, and help drive our development in countries with high commercial potential. I am delighted with this great collaboration that awaits us, and am very proud that the ICC has chosen Hublot as its partner.”
Two cricket Champions are part of the Hublot family, Michael Clarke- the Australian cricketer and Rohit Sharma – the explosive Indian Cricketer Batsman who opens the batting for India. While receiving the Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph 2016 ICC World Twenty20 cricket watch from Hublot, he said ““I have always been a watch fanatic; so being associated with a brand like Hublot is an absolute delight. They create some of the most incredible timepieces, unique and different. I have always been a fan, so to be on their roster and have them on mine is incredible. Their involvement in sport has been remarkable so that makes our association even more exciting.”
Hublot was the 1st luxury brand to enter football in 2006, which proved to be now an immense marketing and commercial success story. Nor should we forget the success of Hublot’s worldwide collaboration with Ferrari that debuted in 2011. Cricket provides a perfect geographic complement to football.
Football’s major events, including the FIFA World Cup™, and most prestigious clubs (Juventus of Torino, Chelsea FC, SL Benfica or Ajax Amsterdam…) bear the colours of Hublot, not to mention the many players who sport Hublot watches.
