Quantum Fitness Provides World-Renowned Power Plate Equipment to Foundation of Goodness
Athletes to Benefit from Programme
Sri Lanka’s pioneering fitness equipment supplier Quantum Fitness, recently partnered with the Foundation of Goodness (FoG) to provide the world-renowned Power Plate to be used for training rural athletes at FoG’s training facility in Seenigama. The equipment was handed over by Managing Director, South East Asia of Power Plate Grace Tang who was on an official visit to Sri Lanka, to Director – Sports Management at FoG, Anura de Silva. Chairman of Quantum Fitness Nomal Wijeyaratne was also present.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony Grace Tang said, “After discussions with Nomal and the Quantum Fitness team here we identified that there is a demand for Power Plate products. Power Plate is a Whole Body Vibration, (WBV) training product that has had immense success in the global market. The brand was launched 20 years ago so it comes with a lot of success stories as well. It’s also not just an exercise machine. The Power Plate is used in senior care, rehabilitation, sports medicine and by world-class athletes as well. It is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment which is medically certified by the European Union and we’re happy to introduce it to Sri Lanka exclusively through Quantum Fitness.
Power Plate is a fitness machine that gives the body’s muscles a workout by using vibration. Advanced vibration technology works by stimulating your body’s automatic muscle responses using up to 97% of muscle fibers, compared to as little as 20 percent with traditional gym equipment. One of its chief benefits is that it saves time. In little as 15 minute you get a complete full-body workout incorporating stretch, balance, core, strength-building and massage. Some models even have a virtual trainer with 1,000 built in videos. What’s more, Power Plate offers the benefits of physical activity to those who may not otherwise be able to participate in traditional forms of exercises such as the elderly and for patience under rehabilitation.
Also speaking at the ceremony Assistant Sales Manager Commercial of Quantum Fitness Lishan Thenuwara explained, “Power Plate which were brought down to Sri Lanka earlier this year has had quite a lot of success in the market and interest has been generated among the community regarding its versatility and results. We have been partnering with various sporting bodies in Sri Lanka since then to introduce this revolutionary technology and felt the work being done with athletes by Foundation of Goodness to be a great initiative to partner with. Their ambition to promote sport among rural communities and bring to the limelight hidden talent that could well win Sri Lanka an Olympic medal is something that we at Quantum Fitness also strongly believe in and we want to support their initiatives in any way possible.”
Accepting the equipment Director – Sports Management at FoG Anura de Silva noted, “FoG was formed in 1999 in a very small way but post-tsunami in 2004 we really started looking at what we can do for the community of Seenigama. At that time the Melbourne Cricket Club rebuilt our main center, Surrey Sports Club helped us to build the Sports Club, while Bryan Adams donated the Swimming Pool. Slowly but surely we expanded on these facilities and in 2007 we opened all the facilities to rural children. We are now a fully-fledged sports complex supporting 9 different sports. In 2010 the gym was built and since the beginning of this year Quantum has allowed us a trial run with the Power Plate. It has been an immense success for the athletes, especially our tri-athlete who is currently in training for the SAF Games in Nepal next year. We are so thankful to Quantum and Power Plate for coming forward to support our athletes”.
Quantum is looking forward to working with FoG on upcoming projects as well in taking Sri Lankan sport to the next level. For more information please visit www.quantum.lk or call the hotline 0115 964964.
