Sunshine Holdings announces Associate Partnership of Team Sri Lanka ahead of Olympics 2020
Diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings announced its unwavering commitment to the Sri Lanka Olympic Team as an Associate Partner for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. As part of the partnership, Sunshine Holdings has teamed up with the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) to inspire and assist the talented athletes who will represent the motherland in the world’s biggest sporting event.
T. Sayandhan, Chief Executive Officer – Medical Devices of Sunshine Healthcare Lanka Limited—the healthcare arm of Sunshine Holdings—symbolically presented the sponsorship cheque to Suresh Subramaniam, President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, at a media event held recently to felicitate the participating athletes and announce the sponsors.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Sunshine Holdings Group Managing Director Vish Govindsamy said, “We are proud to partner the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka as an Associate Partner, helping to rally friends and families across the nation to celebrate and cheer on Team Sri Lanka together. Our mantra for the last five decades has been fostering responsible entrepreneurship. As a nation-building conglomerate, we have stood strong with our motherland whenever she needed our help. In such a context, Sunshine Holdings is honoured to be a catalyst for these young and talented athletes to pursue their dreams and raise the Sri Lankan flag high in Tokyo.”
Through its corporate and social responsibility (CSR) arm ‘Sunshine Foundation for Good’, Sunshine Holdings has conducted numerous initiatives to support Sri Lanka’s education sector. Govindasamy said that the Group looks at sports as an extension of education and wishes to help local athletes who have a great academic background to uplift their sporting and professional careers further.
“In the future, we would like to support further local athletes who have a great academic background to continue their education. In that way, we help them to balance both sports and education where it will be vital for any athlete to achieve their future goals by putting consistent efforts,” Govindasamy further commented.
