Microsoft partners with CAL to deliver cloud as a platform for digital transformation
Microsoft has announced a partnership with Sri Lankan investment bank, Capital Alliance Limited (CAL). The tech giant will help the bank leverage cloud-enabled technology to increase operational stability and build more efficient capital markets.
As part of the agreement, CAL will leverage open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing services—Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Dynamics 365, and Power BI—to develop agility in delivering digital transformations.
In a bid to create a reliable digital working environment, CAL rolled out the business productivity suite Office 365 to ensure that staff could work seamlessly together.
“Office 365 ensures that we always have the most up-to-date modern productivity tools,” said Tharindra Kulasinghe, Chief Information Officer, Capital Alliance Limited. “With Outlook, Skype for Business, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams, our employees can now collaborate no matter where they are or what device they are on 24/7.”
CAL then integrated Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security and Azure Backup, including solutions for customer information classification, protection, real-time analytics, and identity management through Dynamics 365 and Power BI.
Dynamics 365 is a cloud-based business applications platform that combines components of customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP). Power BI is a business analytics tool that turns unrelated sources of data into coherent, visually immersive, and interactive insights.
With Power BI as an option for analytical reporting in Dynamics 365, employees at CAL are now experiencing an exceptional visual presentation of data in different designs like graphs and pie charts. Employees now have the ability to tweak reports as needed to easily analyze financial trends.
“Power BI allows us to create our own analytical reports and derive insights from existing ones. The integration between Dynamics 365 for managing client data and Power BI give us the capability to personalize workspaces while allowing us to access the Power BI reports directly from Dynamics 365,” noted Tharindra.
Thanks to cloud-based technologies, communication and collaboration are simpler and more powerful. According to Tharindra: “Microsoft’s tools have greatly increased our collaboration capability and capacity for data-driven intelligence. We have greatly reduced our capital expenditures on physical technology, allowing us to improve our return on investments and explore other avenues for growth and success.”
“CAL is looking to leverage technology as a means to transform its business for the future,” said Hasitha Abeywardena, Country Manager, Microsoft Sri Lanka & Maldives. “With Microsoft at its side, CAL will be able to harness the intelligent cloud and benefit from our commitment to the democratization of technology.”
