Mobitel offers Twitter without data charges for a unique cricket experience
The National Mobile Service Provider, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel has partnered with Twitter, one of the largest social networking sites in the world, to give its valued customers the opportunity to use Twitter for free for the duration of the ongoing high octane cricketing action. The partnership will provide customers the most comprehensive platform to follow the excitement and the pulse of the world tournament, one Tweet at a time.
Mobitel customers will receive access to the popular social media platform by visiting twitter.com for the duration of the event without incurring any data charges. A unique aspect of the service which will be available up until the end of March 2015, is that customers who don’t possess a Twitter account can also experience the Cricket Timeline which includes scores and commentary by directly accessing twitter.com/i/cricket.
Users can access Twitter’s newly announced cricket updates during the gala season by searching for the appropriate hashtag on the current tournament on the Twitter app on Android or iOS and twitter.com/i/cricket via mobile web. Customers can also access this special feature timeline by accessing individual match hashtags like #SLvAFG or #NZvENG.
On the Twitter timeline, users can engage with players, commentators and celebrities, watch exclusive pictures and videos and of course keep updated with all the latest scores with data free of charge. Customers will also be able to follow their favourite accounts without any data charges to get updates from Mobitel @MobitelSriLanka. Further, updates of legends such as Viv Richards @vivrichards56, Shane Warne @ShaneWarne, Mahela Jayawardena @MahelaJay and Angelo Mathews @Angelo69Mathews also could be accessed.
