SLASSCOM CSCx and (ISC)² Colombo Chapter collaborate to enhance the cybersecurity ecosystem in Sri Lanka
The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CSCx) and (ISC)² Colombo Chapter have joined forces to develop a dynamic information and cybersecurity ecosystem in Sri Lanka. The two organizations recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving the overall cybersecurity posture of the country.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Ashique M. Ali, Chairman of SLASSCOM, and Sujit Christy, President of (ISC)² Colombo Chapter, Sri Lanka. The collaboration aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both organizations to create a more robust and dynamic cybersecurity ecosystem in Sri Lanka.
SLASSCOM CSCx was launched with the goal of positioning Sri Lanka as a Global Cybersecurity Hub. The organization has been working tirelessly to achieve an impressive target of $500 million in export revenue by 2025, while producing 10,000 to 20,000 new cybersecurity professionals to cater to the growing global demand for cybersecurity products and services. As part of this collaboration, SLASSCOM plans to promote the (ISC)² information security certifications which are recognized as the global standard for excellence. The certifications allow an individual to prove their expertise and highlight their skill mastery. As for employers, having certified employees means the organization is better prepared to protect the critical information assets and infrastructures.
(ISC)² credential holders represent an elite, global network of information security professionals. The (ISC)² Colombo Chapter is focused on improving information security in Sri Lanka by providing a platform for security professionals to share knowledge and develop professionally. The members not only protect the organizations they serve, but they also help keep society safe. The chapter provides its non-credential holder members with access to a range of educational, training and awareness programs to keep them informed of the emerging threat landscape, mitigation strategies and help pursue an information security certification.
The collaboration between SLASSCOM CSCx and (ISC)² Colombo Chapter is expected to bring significant benefits to the information and cybersecurity community in Sri Lanka. By leveraging the expertise and resources of both organizations, the cybersecurity ecosystem in Sri Lanka will become more dynamic and robust. The collaboration will also create new opportunities for professionals to grow and enhance their information security and cybersecurity skills, better protect their organizations and keep society safe.
This partnership is an important milestone which will lead to a stronger overall security posture for the country and provide new avenues for professional development and enhance the skill competencies by leveraging the expertise and resources of both organizations.
