Joins the technology industry development initiative as its ‘Innovation Partner’.
Colombo : Sysco LABS announced its partnership with SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association for Software and Service Companies) as the ‘Innovation Partner’ for its inaugural National ICT/BPM Week 2023. Following the regional events that were held previously, this year’s event marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the event is being held on a national level, showcasing the industry’s dedication to achieving a $1.5 billion export revenue target by 2025.
Scheduled to take place from the 11th to 13th October 2023 at the BMICH, the National ICT/BPM Week aims to foster industry growth and innovation while also inspiring the youth of Sri Lanka to explore career opportunities in technology.
Speaking about being the Innovation Partner for SLASSCOM’s National ICT/BPM Week, Rasika Karunatilake, Managing Director, Sysco LABS, said: “The Sri Lankan IT industry is rich with ingenuity, accounting for nearly 8% of the country’s total export revenue in 2022. However, its potential for contribution is far greater. With the aim of reaching $1.5 billion in export revenue by 2025, the industry requires increased investment to generate more jobs and foster opportunities for innovation. We are committed to investing in initiatives such as SLASSCOM’s National ICT/BPM Week which will contribute to the strengthening of the Sri Lankan technology industry’s talent pipeline.”
The initiative hopes to draw students from various educational backgrounds through awareness sessions conducted across selected provinces, including schools (O/L and A/L), state and private universities, vocational education institutions, and career seekers in the Western Province. The National ICT/BPM Week will consist of two distinct sessions, with the morning sessions dedicated to school students and the afternoon sessions open to the public. The event’s primary focus is to provide educational tracks and pathways to career opportunities in the technology industry.
This event is a key component of the National Future Talent Initiative (NFTI), which represents a collaborative effort between industry, academia, and the government to develop future-ready talent at scale. As the ‘Innovation Partner’ for SLASSCOM’s National ICT/BPM Week 2023, Sysco LABS is dedicated to fostering innovation and encouraging the growth of similar companies in the Sri Lankan IT ecosystem.
