Chef Charles at Galle Face Hotel’s first Dine by Design Series
Colombo’s Grande Dame, the iconic Galle Face Hotel will introduce globally renowned Chef Charles Disanayake, at the hotel’s first Dine by Design Series. Chef Charles is the Executive Chef of the upscale French restaurant Vis-à-vis located in New York City, and is due to unveil his flavoursome and irresistible recipes for guests at the Galle Face Hotel.
The Dine by Design Series will take place on Friday, 29th January, 2016 at the Galle Face Hotel’s chic fine dining restaurant, 1864, named after the year in which the heritage hotel was built. Chef Charles will serve a special blend of cuisine which he creates with influences from French, Italian, American, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Mediterranean and South Asian cuisines. Guests will also be spoiled for choice with a selection of wines served straight from the 1864 restaurant’s wine cellar.
Chef Charles originally hails from Sri Lanka, but grew up in many cultures including Ethiopia, Nigeria, England, Mexico and the United States. He creates his own unique brand of contemporary cuisine by merging cooking techniques and elements from all over the world to create interesting and flavourful dishes. Chef Charles has stayed connected with Sri Lanka and gained a lot of local recognition for setting up the critically acclaimed restaurant Soho Bistro at the prestigious Park Street Hotel. He also arranged the cuisine and played the role of Executive Consulting Chef for the renowned Lantern Group of Hotels, and will act as the Food and Beverages Consultant and Executive Chef to their new hotels that will be coming up in Sri Lanka.
Chef Charles is also a multi-award winning chef and culinary artist who spends his time consulting for restaurants in the U.S and overseas. Chef Charles owns and operates a boutique catering firm and personal chef service called “One World One Kitchen” in New York City, creating memorable signature events for high profile private clients that include A-list celebrities, fashion designers, Wall Street CEO’s and many internationally renowned corporate companies.
