Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts powers its way into the 25 most valuable brands listing
In a historic achievement, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts was anointed the No. 1 Emerging Brand in Sri Lanka and also ranked 23rd with a brand value of Rs. 4.9 billion in the Most Valuable Brands list released by Brand Finance recently. This accomplishment marks the first time Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts has made it to the Most Valuable Brands listing and that too by surpassing many other established brands and all other leisure brands. This unique feat has been achieved by adopting a structured approach to brand positioning and brand building that has been strongly sustained over the last decade.
Deputy Chairman of John Keells Holdings, Ajit Gunewardene, commenting on the dual accolade said: “We are delighted to be included in Brand Finance’s latest brand listing. Being anointed Emerging Brand of the Year and ranked 23rd amongst other long-standing most valuable brands is an accomplishment that makes us tremendously proud. This is a hard-won triumph and brings to fruition our sustained brand-building efforts. We aspire to be the benchmark for the hotel industry in the region and the hotel of choice for both local and global travelers by offering them a unique experience. Led by a long term vision, we will continue evolving our strategy and infusing dynamism into the brand. One of the key contributors to our success has been our speed of adapting to change and embracing opportunities that our brand can leverage on. We have pioneered some unique and spectacular events in Sri Lanka and have exciting plans for the brand in the future.”
In his opinion, substantial investments being injected into brand communications is one pivotal factor that has contributed to this historic accomplishment. Strategically partnering with many international events has given the brand immense exposure and visibility in the region over the past year. Moreover, apart from customers, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts as a brand has reached out equally to other valuable stakeholders in their journey. The brand has a strong sustainability agenda that encompasses the well-being of all its stakeholders. Its social sustainability efforts are focused on empowering people and strengthening livelihoods by improving the standard of living for local communities. Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts is also proud about its achievement of having reduced its carbon footprint by approximately 15% over the last 5 years and achieving an overall reduction in water foot-print by approximately 20%. Overall, the brand is aiming for international best practice levels in sustainability as defined by Earth Check Global.
