Emirates boosts services to Colombo, offering customers 6 weekly flights

  • The airline has announced it will operate 6 weekly flights to Colombo – with the fifth weekly flight commencing on 18 February and the sixth weekly flight commencing on 27 February
  • The two additional services will meet passenger demand and offer customers more flexibility and choice while planning their travels.

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Emirates has announced it will increase its services to Colombo from four to six weekly flights – with a fifth weekly flight commencing 18 February (every Thursday) and a sixth weekly flight commencing 27 February (every Saturday). The two additional services will serve market demand and offer customers enhanced connectivity to/from Colombo, via Dubai.

The added services will operate every Thursday and Saturday. Emirates flight EK650 will depart Dubai at 02:35hrs and arrive in Colombo 08:25hrs local time. The return flight EK651 will depart Colombo at 09:55hrs and arrive in Dubai at 13:00hrs, local time. Customers can enjoy safe and convenient connections to more than 90 destinations within Emirates’ network, via Dubai.

Emirates’ flights to Colombo will operate utilising the wide-body aircraft, Boeing 777-300ER. Tickets can be booked on emirates.com, Emirates sales offices, or via travel agents.

Emirates launched operations to Sri Lanka in 1986, serving the country for more than 30 years. The airline was one of the first international airlines to resume outbound passenger flights from Colombo last year – helping facilitate travel for foreign nationals and Sri Lankans. Emirates SkyCargo – the airline’s freight division – continues to support the country by maintaining vital trade links and playing a crucial role in transporting goods to and from Colombo with four weekly cargo flights.

Flexibility and assurance: Emirates’ booking policies offer customers flexibility and confidence to plan their travel. Customers who purchase an Emirates ticket for travel on or before 30 June 2021, can enjoy generous rebooking terms and options, if they have to change their travel plans. Customers have options to change their travel dates or extend their ticket validity for 2 years. More information here. 

Travel with confidence: All Emirates customers can travel with confidence and peace of mind with the airline industry’s first, multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover. This cover is offered by Emirates on all tickets purchased on or from 1 December 2020, at no cost to customers. In addition to COVID-19 medical cover, this latest offer from Emirates also has provisions for personal accidents during travel, winter sports cover, loss of personal belongings, and trip disruptions due to unexpected air space closure, travel recommendations or advisories, similar to other multi-risk travel insurance products. COVID-19 PCR testing: Emirates customers who require a COVID-19 PCR test certificate prior to departure from Dubai, can avail of special rates at clinics across Dubai by simply presenting their ticket or boarding pass.
