Emirates SkyCargo boosts freight capacity to Geneva with second daily flight
Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has doubled its cargo capacity to Geneva with the launch of the airline’s second daily flight between Dubai and the Swiss city.
The new service, launched on 1st June 2016, offers nearly 140 tons of additional belly-hold cargo capacity every week to satisfy growing demand for Emirates SkyCargo services between Geneva and the Middle East, Far East and Australia. The service is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER allowing customers to transport large and outsized cargo up to a height of 160cm.
Emirates SkyCargo currently serves three destinations in Switzerland offering belly-hold cargo capacity to Geneva and Zurich and a dedicated freighter service to Basel. The second daily flight to Geneva takes the total cargo capacity per week on Emirates’ Dubai-Geneva- Dubai route to 280 tons, representing an additional 26% to the current cargo capacity by Emirates SkyCargo to and from Switzerland.
Geneva is an important commercial and economic hub housing many of the world’s leading trading and trade finance companies, a growing cluster of pharmaceutical companies and the headquarters of various international organisations including, the International Red Cross. The region is also home to a number of the world’s leading luxury watchmakers.
Key items exported from Geneva include pharmaceutical products, automobile spare parts, chemicals, electronics, luxury watches and aid-related humanitarian cargo. Items imported into Geneva include poultry, meat, fish, other fresh produce and garments. Emirates’ second daily flight to Geneva broadens opportunities for local businesses in Switzerland to connect with global customers.
Emirates flight EK083 departs Dubai at 1455hrs and arrives at Geneva at 1950hrs. The returning flight EK084 departs Geneva at 21.45hrs and arrives at Dubai the following morning at 0610hrs. SkyCargocustomers have the option of extended drop-off times at Geneva – customers can deliver cargo until 1700hrs on the day of the flight for general cargo and until 1800hrs for valuable cargo – and short connections the following morning from Dubai to over 150 destinations across the globe on the Emirates network.
