The Sixth Oman Air Golf Classic to tee off from Digana in September
The Sixth Oman Air Golf Classic 2016 is set to tee off at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort at Digana, Kandy, on 03rd of September 2016 attracting male and female amateur golfers both here and abroad. Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman made the announcement at a media briefing at the Cinnamon Lakeside and saw the participation of Gihan Karunaratne, Country Manager – Sri Lanka & Maldives, Oman Air and Neroy Marso – General Manager, Victoria Golf & Country Club.
The fifth edition of the tournament saw Tony Udagedara walk away with the coveted title, with Vidush Rajendran a close second. This year the golfers are set to compete for the titles of Overall Winner and Runner-up, also Gross Winner, Nearest to the Pin and Longest Driver in both the ladies and gents categories. There will be a variety of prizes on offer including a voucher from Oman Air worth Rs. 100,000 for the Overall Winner of the tournament.
Commenting on the tournament, Gihan Karunaratne, Country Manager – Sri Lanka & Maldives, Oman Air, said, “We are pleased to say the Oman Air Golf Classic is an eagerly awaited and highly contested amateur golf tournament by our customers who enjoy the sport. Our aim is to capitalise on that positioning by collaborating with the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, a 73 course designed by world famous golf course architects, Donald Steel and Martin Ebert set against the majestic Knuckles mountain range.”
