M Lotto jackpot enables winner to secure family’s future
Sri Lankan lotteries innovator Mahapola Lotto has already awarded two Rs. 4 million jackpots in less than a year, with the first awarded in July 2014 and the most recent in February 2015.
The Rs. 4 million jackpot was won by Mr. Ruwan Sirimanne from Maharagama, a storekeeper at a private sector company, who played his lucky numbers of 12, 14, 57 and 65. Interestingly, Mr. Sirimanne had played virtually the same numbers the day before since he had a strong feeling that these were destined to win.
It is also noteworthy that the winning M Lotto ticket was also purchased from a Mahapola Lotto kiosk in Mr. Sirimanne’s hometown of Maharagama. And that it was this dealer, for whom Mr. Sirimanne is a regular customer, who initially alerted him to the fact that the numbers he chose might have won.
Mr. Sirimanne won the M Lotto jackpot at a time of need, as he is paying his grandmother’s medical expenses. He was finding it difficult to cope with the rising expenses and this win came at a crucial juncture, allowing him to help his family.
Additionally, this is already the second M Lotto jackpot winner in under a year, with the first much-needed Rs. 4 million jackpot having been awarded to a state employee from Rajagiriya. Further, the first M Lotto winning ticket was sold at a Mahapola Lottery kiosk operated by a differently abled youth.
Commenting further, Mahapola Lotto Corporate Communications Manager Ms. Harshini Sirinanda said, “We are happy that Mr. Sirimanne, the second Mahapola Lotto Jackpot winner of Rs. 4 million in less than a year, has received this well-deserved prize money at a time when his family needs it the most, having been faced with several recent medical expenses. In a similar vein, Mahapola Lotto will continue its committment to uplifting the lives of all Sri Lankans, whether through awarding prize money, providing entrepreneurial opportunities or contributing to national educational scholarships.”
